Lily Rasmussen, Denver
Lily's artwork embodies ideas and visuals that she finds personally interesting. It has evolved over time from being satirical and grotesque to stylized pieces connected by motifs of nature and flashy color palettes. Often referencing well-known themes and motifs, her work explores the varying relationships between popular culture and the natural world. She tends to focus on portraiture, whether it be realistic or stylized. While she uses a variety of materials for her various works, similarities between the projects are linked by recurring sentiments and subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body/focus of work.
